Virginia Beachfront Hotels

The wide beaches of Virginia are a perfect place to bring your sun lounger and umbrella and relax while sipping a cocktail or two, and many beach hotels in Virginia offer just that. Big tourist destinations such as Virginia Beach offer tourists a a wide selection accommodation, while smaller, more family-friendly destinations such as Buckroe Beach offer a more laid-back choice of hotels.

Virginia Beach is the best place to go for beach hotels in Virginia—it has the best selection and a wide range of price points. The wide sandy beach here is publicly accessible, but having an ocean view in a hotel right on the sand is a great way to feel pampered. There are luxurious properties like the Hilton Virginia Beach OceanFront Hotel, or quieter, more secluded getaways like the Turtle Cay Resort, which is located in a less crowded area across from the three-mile long boardwalk. If you want to be right in the thick of the action, there are a number of boutique hotels and other big name chains located on the boardwalk itself, as well as clubs, restaurant and shopping. The beaches to the north and south tend to be more secluded, with many vacation rentals and apartments available for your stay. Ocean View Beach in Norfolk is located about fifteen miles from Virginia Beach, and while it is a nice day trip for a family, there are fewer options for accommodations there.

Less popular locations, but no less enjoyable, are beaches such as Cape Charles on the eastern shore of Chesapeake Bay and Buckroe Beach near Hampton City. Here, the beach hotels in Virginia take the form of quaint B&Bs and inns that showcase local hospitality. If you're a nature buff, you might want to consider staying in a cabin or camping at one of Virginia's State Parks, many of which have river beaches that are a little more rustic and less touristy than Virginia Beach.
