Port Aransas is on the northern tip of Mustang Island in Texas. The location is heavenly, attracting beach lovers from miles around. Skirting the Gulf of Mexico, Port Aransas is up front and center, backed by scenic and exciting points of interest, including Red Fish Bay, Ingleside on the Bay, Corpus Christi, and adjacent to Mustang Island State Park. A large network of bays creates an area perfect to explore with plenty of bay and coastal towns with small beaches. Less than an hour from Corpus Christi and three hours from bustling San Antonio, Port Aransas is a good base for visiting many of the best attractions in Texas.

Port Aransas Beach is almost seven miles long with predominant white sand and clear water. One way to maximize time is to camp on the beach, an activity permitted for up to three consecutive days without fees. Play on the beach, light up a fire, and watch the sunset each night. There are dolphins to watch and many active endeavors too, including boogie boarding, wind surfing, sailing, and swimming. More than five miles of beach are accessible inside Mustang Island State Park, south of Port Aransas. Rustic camping offers opportunity to see rich wildlife up close, swim in the gulf, picnic on the shores, and fish coastal waters. More nearby beaches are easy to reach such as Rockport Beach, several Corpus Christi beaches, and Padre Island National Seashore.

Port Aransas’s oceanfront location presents access to some of the best fishing on the coast. There are several ways to enjoy this favorite activity. Chartering a boat is a family favorite with possibilities for sightseeing, exploring the coast and fishing, of course. Guide fishing charters are widely available, from half-day trips to overnight excursions and weekend jaunts. Dolphin watching cruises can be arranged directly in Port Aransas Texas. Jet ski rentals and parasailing rentals are also readily available. Port Aransas is very small, so getting around by foot is possible and a good way to explore dining and shopping options.
