Another large collection of restaurants, clubs, and bars is in West Loop, skirted by affluent businesses and neighborhoods while Outside 610 includes lesser visited but equally appealing attractions off the beaten path.

The beaches near Houston create a sort of tug of war over what to do next. The city is filled with museums and galleries, historic districts, family attractions, top-notch nightlife and more, yet the coast is also irresistible. Less than an hour away, the barrier island of Galveston has some of the best beaches near Houston Texas, including Jamaica Beach, West Beach, and East Beach. Surfside Beach in Freeport is also an hour from the city. Here, the surf is gentle, the beach is wide, and everyone heads out to enjoy recreational activities and pure leisure. Anyone making the jaunt from Galveston via ferry to the scenic Bolivar Peninsula is rewarded with 30-plus miles of white-sand beaches, including popular Crystal beach, where surfing, horseback riding, fishing, and other traditional beach fun is possible.
