The best beaches in the world
South Carolina beaches are some of the most scenic and most accommodating in the country. Many are family destinations ideal for children with waterfront parks, oceanfront amusement parks, and safe, gentle surf. Variety in beaches along the Grand Strand also means beaches in places like Hilton Head Island ideal for romantic getaways, beaches with excellent nightlife, and beaches like Cherry Grove Beach that are famous for fishing. Most have great infrastructure in an unobtrusive and convenient way. There are also beaches offering a genuine secluded feel, such as Pawleys Island and neighboring barrier islands.
The Grand Strand is a 60-mile stretch of beach communities on the North Atlantic Coast. It’s home to some of the best South Carolina beaches, including Garden City Beach, Litchfield Beach, Little River and Murrells Inlet. Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach are at the heart of the Grand Strand. Myrtle Beach’s appeal lies in a choice of more than 100 championship golf courses combined with great shopping, great beaches, and attractions. Four miles up the road, North Myrtle Beach is another community lauded for family friendliness, large beaches, and numerous fishing piers. Vacation rentals are widely available in Garden City Beach, another favorite with amazing scenery of tidal marshes and rich wildlife. Murrells Inlet is a historic gem and also known as the Seafood Capital of South Carolina, boasting excellent waterfront restaurants and plenty of oceanfront activities and events. Pristine, upscale, and quiet, Litchfield Beach is little more than a half-hour from Myrtle Beach.
These South Carolina beaches are surrounded by friendly communities and offer many similar things to do; parasailing, windsurfing, and surfing are popular. Swimming, sunbathing, and beachfront activities are family favorites, and fishing charters are a key aspect of vacations but most favored in Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach.
