South Carolina Vacations

South Carolina beach vacations are one of the best ways to appreciate the beautiful coastline of the state, as well as its historical Southern towns, world-class golf resorts, and abundant wildlife. Many of South Carolina's attractions are grouped along the coast, from the gorgeous golden beaches at Myrtle Beach, to the great fishing and kayaking available at Edisto Island and Hilton Head Island. There's much more to do on South Carolina beach vacations than merely lying on a sunny beach, but if that's your goal, there are plenty of sunny beaches on which to relax.

Myrtle Beach is one of South Carolina's top beach destinations, with miles of soft golden sand that are extremely family friendly and perfect for swimming and boating. Boat rentals are available, and you can even fish right off the pier. There are numerous local attractions in town, such as the Myrtle Beach Pavilion Amusement Park, as well as great restaurants and shopping. If you're a golfer, Myrtle Beach has some world-class golf resorts, as does nearby Kiawah Island. The island also offers a wide beach with ample amenities for having fun in the water, and you can see some of the local wildlife from the boardwalk right near the beach.

Historic Charleston is a top coastal destination, and although it doesn't have a beach per se, it forms a valuable stop on most South Carolina Beach Vacations, with an aquarium, naval museum, and oceanfront dining. You can easily access beaches from the town, such as the nearby beaches at Edisto Island and Folly Beach, which offer a more laid-back beach vibe and smaller inns and shops.

Further south along the coast, Hilton Head Island is a popular beach vacation spot, especially during the summer. There are numerous beach resorts, as well as villa and apartment rentals located on the waterfront. The island boasts a historic Southern atmosphere, with several historic museums and monuments, and has excellent golfing as well.
