Lincoln City

Lincoln City
Lincoln City Oregon, on the central Oregon coast, is a place of discovery. Every year, visitors come to admire the scenery, and many of them find glass floats on the beach. Many exquisite pieces of glass art are created by artists and then let go on the ocean between the middle of October and Memorial Day. Any visitor who finds one of these treasures can keep it; the Lincoln City OR visitor center takes registrations and will hand out a certificate of authenticity, explaining the artist behind the work.

The city’s artistic spirit can be felt away from the beaches as well. The North Lincoln County Historical Museum hosts an exhibit about glass fishing floats that explains how this tradition got started. Some of the glass artists have opened up their studios, where they give demonstrations and tours explaining the hot glass process. Visitors also have the chance to get in the action as they learn how to make their own paperweight or other glass treasure. Other art galleries join performances, dances, and live music—all expressions of the creativity found in Lincoln City Oregon.

Lincoln City OR is home to some of the best Oregon beaches. A long string of sandy beaches front the Pacific Ocean—all free to access. The Nelscott beaches lie just to the north of the Inn at Spanish Head. Like the other Lincoln City beaches, these have a wide strip of sand just off Highway 101 as well as waves lapping the shore and breeze perfect for kite flying. These beaches are some of the top in the area thanks to the business district just off the beach, home to some charming shops and eateries. At these beaches and the others, you’ll have the choice of many activities besides beachcombing. Active types will thrill to the windsurfing and kayaking, while others really enjoy searching for crabs and mussels or whale watching in the spring and fall.

Not surprisingly, Lincoln City’s restaurants serve freshly caught seafood, while others specialize in a good cup of coffee or gourmet global tastes. The shopping scene is just as diverse—seven miles of shops line Highway 101, and the outlet mall draws bargain hunters from all over who especially enjoy the sales tax-free shopping. After a day packed with good shopping, great views, and tasty food, you’ll be ready to settle into your chosen accommodations, everything from a campground with a view to a suite at a luxury resort.
