Cannon Beach

Cannon Beach
Cannon Beach Oregon is home to one of the monuments of the Oregon Coast—a towering monolith known as Haystack Rock. It stands 235 feet tall, attracting the attention of wildlife as well as photographers and nature buffs. Beyond the rock, you’ll find a rocky coastline and a friendly city with many things to do and enjoy.

Along the state’s north coast, Cannon Beach OR was visited by the famed explorers Lewis and Clark on their mission to discover the vast lands west of the Mississippi River. Today, you can follow in those famous footsteps with a visit to Ecola State Park. In between the mighty Sitka pines and the Pacific Ocean, you’ll find hiking trails, as well as camping and some fabulous Oregon beaches. Many consider Ecola’s beaches to be among the best Oregon beaches.

Working in conjunction with the state, the city of Cannon Beach OR keeps much of the shoreline open to the public. The best Oregon beaches are free to enjoy, and the Cannon Beach beaches are no exception. Whether you’re looking to swim, stroll on the beach, or just relax and watch the scenery, these beautiful beaches will take you far away from your everyday cares. The beaches around Haystack Rock have been declared a Marine Garden and National Wildlife Refuge.

Beyond the beach, you’ll find even more to like about Cannon Beach Oregon. The attractions and hotels here have an eclectic charm—from the cooking school to the artisans studios and boutique shopping. While strolling through town, you could stop in and watch a glassblower create exquisite pieces of art or see the jewelry inspired by the Oregon Coast and Haystack Rock. A host of other galleries display art in all types of media.

You’ll also find the chance to connect with the local maritime history at the Garibaldi Museum. The Cannon Beach History Center, another local treasure, takes the long view of history, bringing to live tales of Native Americans, early explorers, and lighthouse history, in addition to the geological forces that created Haystack Rock.
