The best beaches in the world
The North Carolina beach hotels put visitors right along this beautiful East Coast shoreline. Some of the best beaches on the eastern seaboard are found along the North Carolina coast, and when summer rolls around, they are in very high demand.
North Carolina’s Outer Banks area has long been a popular destination in the Tar Heel State. The Outer Banks consist of a long string of barrier islands that extend along the coast from the Virginia border on down to the middle part of North Carolina. This area offers miles of beautiful beaches, and many beach hotels. The coastal stretch between Duck and Nags Head is home to the most Outer Banks beach hotels. Some of the best North Carolina resorts calls the area home, and there are cozy inns here too.
The Outer Banks area is linked to the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. While this protected region doesn’t offer a ton of beach hotels, there are some options in and around the Hatteras and Ocracoke Island area. Farther south, the North Carolina coast takes a turn towards the west, curving around Onslow Bay. This area is known as the Bogue Banks area, and it is part of the longer strip of coast called the Crystal Coast. Many hotels are found along the Crystal Coast, and the area is also known for its beach cottage rentals.
As for North Carolina’s southern coast, Surf City and Topsail Beach are popular places to escape to, so a number of beach hotels have sprung up along their shores. Wrightsville Beach, which is part of the greater Wilmington area, is also popular and offers many beach hotels. Other southern North Carolina beach hotel hot spots include Carolina Beach, Wilmington Beach, and Kure Beach, which are approximately fifteen miles south of Wilmington Beach and help to comprise the Cape Fear area.
