Atlantic Beach is part of a long barrier along the North Carolina coast close to Beaufort and south of the Outer Banks. This resort town is as scenic as it is charming. With year-round pleasant weather, the Bouge Banks—the home of Atlantic Beach North Carolina—is a welcoming destination. If you’re looking for a place where you can slip away from it all, you can make your way to the Carolina coast and soak in the sun.
During all twelve months of the year, the beaches are the biggest draw in this shoreline community. Even if it’s too cool for a dip, which is only a short time in the winter, you could still enjoy a stroll atop the powdery white sand. Throughout town, there are several access points for these North Carolina beach areas, complete with plentiful parking. And the best thing—you don’t need to pay to have fun on these beaches, located on the same island as Indian Beach and Emerald Isle.
Les and Sally Moore Public Beach
Nestled between Emerald Isle and Cape Lookout, Atlantic Beach North Carolina is centrally located along the coast. Its long and wide beach offers several access points. The Les and Sally Moore Public Beach is one of the most popular spots to hit the beach and have some fun in the sun. Many public amenities are found here, including restrooms, outdoor showers, and a large parking lot. You also can find a spot at a picnic table when it’s time for lunch or a snack.
West Atlantic Boulevard
The same amenities are located at the beach along West Atlantic Boulevard. You can expect to find beautiful views and a lot of things to do. The wide, sandy shores run east to west, which gives you a great vantage point for watching both the sunrise and sunset. In between, the beach offers plenty of room to build sandcastles, fly a kite, or simply laze in the sun. You’ll also have the chance to hunt for sand diggers, which are little crabs that burrow underground. Off shore, the gentle surf and breeze make for ideal conditions for swimming and surfing. Anglers can cast a line from the fishing pier or step aboard a fishing charter. The saltwater fishing is simply second to none along the Crystal Coast.
Tom Doe Memorial Beach
Many families make their way to Tom Doe Memorial Beach, which has a large playground. This beach also has parking and ramp, so those in wheelchairs can spend time along the shore.
Sheraton Atlantic Beach Resort
Beach access is also available at one of the hotels in Atlantic Beach North Carolina, the Sheraton. In the summertime, you can pay a small fee for a great parking lot without a long walk or a lot of hassle. Lifeguards are on patrol here and throughout Atlantic Beach’s shoreline. All of the rescuers are trained in CPR and ocean rescue, and they work in tandem with the fire department to keep everyone safe and happy. Lifeguards stands are strategically located at several points along the beach, and ATV patrols allow even better coverage. This is also the case in nearby Ocean Isle Beach.
If you want to turn a day at the beach into a full-fledged vacation, you can find all the building blocks in and around Atlantic Beach. The town is well known for its vacation rentals—a cottage on the beach is a fantastic place to stay and provides a nice alternative to the same old hotel rooms. You’ll also find a plenty of restaurants and shops to visit when you’re not relaxing at your rental or at the beach.
