The best beaches in the world
Every summer the beaches in New Jersey come alive with visitors, water sports, barbeques, and family reunions. The beaches along the Jersey Shore, or the coastline of New Jersey, are known for their beach rentals where families or groups of friends can rent a home for a weekend, a month, or the whole season and soak up the summer sunshine. Before you sign on the dotted line, keep in mind that different areas of New Jersey have different reputations. Some shore points are known as party spots while others welcome families. Some are charming and historic while others are bustling and full of life. A little research will help you find the best match.
If you were to see a photograph of a beach in New Jersey, you might mistake it for a beach in the Caribbean. Many visitors from outside the state don’t know that New Jersey is actually home to long stretches of white-sand beaches and clean water that is perfect for swimming, boating, and jet ski rides. Many of the best beaches are located on barrier islands, including Long Beach Island, Lavallette, and Point Pleasant. There are several criteria that will help you narrow down your choices, including location and reputation. Cape May, Wildwood, and Atlantic City for example all offer different experiences, but are located in the far southern reaches of the state.
For a quiet, historical experience choose Cape May. For a family getaway, the beaches of Wildwood are ideal. To try your luck in the casinos, head to Atlantic City. Travelers coming from the north might want to choose a destination that isn’t so far south. Great options in the middle section of the Jersey shore include Long Beach Island and Lavallette. Many beaches require passes to enjoy a day on the beach; these typically come included with your rental. Other options include public beaches, such as Island State Beach Park, where you can pay to visit for the day. Further north, one of the best beach options is Sandy Hook. Wherever you choose, once you set foot on the beach you will hardly believe this is New Jersey.
