Long Beach Island New Jersey boasts nearly 20 miles of beaches and is known for its family-oriented appeal. Being that this is the Jersey Shore, the island also offers some good nightlife, though it generally remains quieter than some of the state’s other beach destinations, such as Atlantic City and Belmar Beach, once the sun goes down. As for where to stay, there are several beachfront hotels in Long Beach NJ, and they come in various shapes and sizes. Most are found in the island’s central and southern areas, and as you might imagine, demand for rooms is at its highest during the peak summer beach season.
Sea Shell Resort and Beach Club
The outdoor bar area at this resort in Beach Haven helps to make it one of the more popular spots on Long Beach Island for some nightlife fun. For those who prefer having their fun during the daylight hours, the bar area can also come in handy as a place to grab lunch or some afternoon beverages. Complementing the bar are three restaurants, and the facilities also include a large pool area. Sea Shell Resort and Beach Club guest units are available in the form of rooms and suites. Each features cable TV, air conditioning, a ceiling fan, a mini fridge, and a telephone. Internet access is available at no extra charge in the lobby, and the Sea Shell Resort has a pet-friendly policy in the off-season.
Windward at the Beach
Found just across the street from the beach in Beach Haven’s historic district is a lodging establishment that travelers will want to keep in mind when searching for Long Beach Island hotels. This hotel is the Windward at the Beach at 200 S. Atlantic Avenue in Beach Haven. While not overly luxurious, this hotel provides plenty of comfort and style in its guest units. The decor is cheery on the whole, and common in-room amenities include satellite TV, air conditioning, a mini fridge, a microwave, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Found outside of the delightful rooms are a children’s area, a large wrap-around porch that is enclosed, private outside showers for getting the sand off and an outdoor picnic area with gas grills. It should be mentioned that efficiency units that feature full kitchens are available at the Windward at the Beach Hotel.
As is true of the Windward at the Beach Hotel, the Engleside Inn in Beach Haven enjoys a great location by the beach and offers efficiency units to go with its more standard rooms. This hotel also has something in common with the Sea Shell Resort and Beach Club, in that it offers an outside bar. Guests can look to take advantage of the outdoor pool as well, and the amenities in the guest units include TVs, DVD players, and mini fridges. Within walking distance of the Engleside Inn is the Bay Village area, and it offers a variety of eateries and shops for guests to consider.
Surf City Hotel
The Surf City Hotel (pictured above) offers low-to-moderate rates and is worth adding to the list for those who don’t want to overspend on their Long Beach Island accommodations. As the name would imply, this hotel is found in the Surf City area. The guest units are spread out over three different buildings, and they include a two-bedroom apartment that offers a kitchen, private laundry facilities, and an outdoor deck that can be used for relaxing or entertaining. Standard amenities that can be found in all of the guest units include color TV with cable, air conditioning, a mini refrigerator, and a telephone. General hotel facilities include a bar, a restaurant and a gift shop. There is also a liquor store on the premises.
