Long Branch

Long Branch, a seaside community halfway between Manhattan and Atlantic City, has some of the best beaches in New Jersey. These white-sand beaches are favored by celebrities as well as families once summer arrives.

At one point, President Ulysses S. Grant enjoyed his vacation to Long Branch so much that he declared it the official summer capital of the United States. The six presidents that followed continued the tradition of vacationing at these New Jersey beaches, and their legacy lives on with Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park. With a wide, sandy beach and plenty of access to the Atlantic Ocean, the park is an excellent place to spend some time along the shore. The county park also a popular place for bird watching and kayaking in the summer and beyond.

The city of Long Branch also watches over a collection of municipal beaches and a boardwalk. Lifeguards are on duty in the summer, the same time passes are required to visit the beach. Anyone under the age of 18 or older than 61 can visit the beach for free. With ramps and beach wheelchairs, everyone can enjoy some fun in the sun.

Once you’ve arrived at the beaches of Long Branch, you’ll find a wide range of activities to enjoy. The soft white sand feels especially nice under your toes, which you can experience on a stroll or lounging in a beach chair. Beach visitors also enjoy swimming and sandcastle building, along with soaking in the sun’s warm rays.

Overlooking the beach and boardwalk, Pier Village offers some of the best shopping and dining opportunities along the shore. A boutique hotel is here, too, providing hospitality for those who want to turn a day at the beach into a full-fledged vacation. Art galleries and cafes are located in the west end of Long Branch, also steps away from the beach.
