Massachusetts beaches will make you feel right at home if basking under warm sun, getting your toes in the sand, and listening to the rolling surf sounds appealing. Where to start? That will depend on where your vacation takes you. From the north shore to Greater Boston and Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket, there’s a perfect place for every beach-lover.
Revere Beach just a few miles from Boston was the very first public beach in the United States. The National Historic Landmark and crescent-shaped waterfront is ideal for swimming with a great view of lighthouses lined up along the bay. Historic sites, amusement parks, and several annual events are a just a few attractions. About an hour north of Boston is Good Harbor Beach, set amid beautiful waterfront locations exhibiting distinct Massachusetts beaches. The pretty sand beach and gentle surf reel in visitors enjoying the rows of charming cottages, popular whale watching tours, and other coastal activities.
Crane’s Beach In Ipswich, northeast of Rockport, is a no-brainer as one of the best beaches in Massachusetts. Put together amazing scenery, a broad, long beach, and a host of amenities to complete an ideal beach setting for all ages. Rich with wildlife and featuring many historic sites, the beach is near myriad interesting attractions and is a magnet for bird-lovers.
Nantucket’s Aquinnah Beach is world-renowned, set on Martha’s Vineyard and brimming with picturesque sand dunes and colorful bluffs. Collect seashells, surf, or just soak up the sun along the white-sand expanse. Cape Cod National Seashore is the star of all Massachusetts beaches, with one notably incredible spot—Coast Guard Beach near Eastham. You may want to rest your laurels on the soft white sand and dip into the water but there’s also ample opportunity to see ocean seals, a huge diversity of birds, and other wildlife. Boogie boarding, body-surfing, and swimming are popular activities. The historic Coast Guard Station appeals to history buffs and anyone appreciating breathtaking scenery.
