Kapalua beaches are some of the finest on the northwestern coast of Maui. Kapalua Hawaii itself is primarily a resort development. There are less than 1,000 actual residents in this area and the entirety of the beach is associated with the resort, although it is accessible by the public. The two primary beaches are Kapalua Beach and the Napili Kai Beach Resort, although there are several other points of interest along this part of the coast that are within very close proximity of Kapalua. This part of the coast features a number of impressive bays (from north to south): Honokahua Bay, Oneloa Bay, Namalu Bay, and Napili Bay.
Kapalua Beach Resort
The natural beauty of the northwestern coast of Maui must have made it an easy decision to develop this resort destination here. The Kapalua Beach Resort occupies some 22,000 acres, stretching from towering, emerald green mountains into the shimmering blue Pacific Ocean. Here you will find championship golf courses, gorgeous mountains and beaches, acres of picturesque land to explore, as well as a host of options for accommodations as well as places to eat, drink, and be entertained. This was one of the earliest Hawaiian beaches to top many lists of the best beaches in the world, and it’s by far one of the best beaches in Maui as well. There are all manners of public facilities, including changing rooms, showers, concessions, and more. Lifeguards regularly patrol the beach.
Napili Kai Beach Resort
Napili Kai Beach Resort is located within the picturesque Napili Bay. Just as with the Kapalua Beach Resort, you can expect to find everything you may need or want at this enviable beach resort destination. Not only will you be treated with awe-inspiring vistas of the ocean and tropical interior each and every day, but also with a wide variety of luxurious amenities, including beach services, access to gear and equipment and lots of fun beach activities, and so much more. The water is calm and accommodating, as it is at Kapalua, due to the presence of offshore reefs. This makes both of these locations especially popular with families who have small children. The Napili Kai Beach Resort also has facilities and rentals, as well as qualified lifeguards patrolling the beach. There are also organized, weekly events like Mai Tai parties, tours of the local areas, hula dancing lessons, and that is just the beginning.
Oneloa Bay Beach
Although Oneloa Bay Beach is a part of the Kapalua Beach Resort, you will find that the stretch of beaches here are far less crowded than the ones farther to the south where the bulk of the guest accommodations are located, and the majority of the activities take place. Oneloa Bay Beach is an ideal place to go if you wish to escape for a private afternoon picnic, or perhaps a romantic evening walk on the beach. There are limited facilities here and no lifeguards on duty. Kapalua is certainly one of the most beautiful areas of Maui.
