Hiking along coastal or interior trails, surfing premiere beaches, and deep sea fishing are just a few of the favorite things to do on Maui. Major cities and resort areas in Maui include Kahului, the main city on the island where the airport is located as well as two large shopping malls. If you enjoy golfing, Kapalua is one of the best places to hit up as it has some championship golf courses. And Lahaina is the main tourist hub on the island. Other major areas include Kihei and Wailea, which are both popular condo areas.

Kaanapali Beach is the premiere beach on Maui’s west coast. It has been awarded the honor of the best beach in America in past years, offering over three miles of white sand and endless activities like surfing and scuba diving. Kapalua Beach is another unbelievably breathtaking area. It also offers miles of white sand, lifeguards, hotels, restaurants, and much more.

There are a number of amazing beaches to the south as well. The most developed and frequently visited include Kamaole Beach Park I, II, and III, Kihei Beach, Keawakapu Beach, and the Makena Beach State Park. Makena Beach State Park is one of the biggest individual beaches in Maui. One of the best things about staying along the south coast of Maui is that so many of these beaches are within close proximity of one another.
