Sea Island GA is an exclusive coastal resort, part of a cluster of small islands at the southeastern tip of Georgia called the Golden Isles of Georgia. These also include St Simons Island, Little St Simons Island and Jekyll Island. Since the early twentieth century, they have attracted many wealthy investors and today, and many lavish tourist and residential accommodations and amenities are available.
One of the first wealthy owners of Golden Isles Island property was the initial owner of the Hudson Motor Company, Howard Coffin. Subsequently, he also bought Sea Island in 1926. The affluent golf course on Sea Island, called The Plantation, was built via Coffin’s investments in 1926 and only a year later, he built The Cloister, a high-end lodge and inn which is still the most luxurious lodging option available today.
Sea Island Georgia is a barrier island tucked into the much larger St Simons Island, distinguished by Black Banks River. Little Simons Island edges the northern tip, separated by the Hampton River. Five miles long and only two short miles in width, Sea Island GA encompasses rich maritime forests, more than 2,000 acres of marshland, oceanfront dunes and a long beach. Access on Sea Island is limited to public roadways and a walk through the hotel. The beach area is private, flanked by grassy dunes and laden with white sand with access only afforded to guests and residents. Nearby St Simons Island is an interesting area for visitors to explore. There are many lodging options, good nightlife, camping, dolphin tours, historic sites and more.
The Cloister at Sea Island Georgia is the most appealing structure here, offering the finest hospitably and accommodations. Along with lodging, it offers tennis, golf courses, a lavish spa, and restaurants. Guests also have access to activities including horseback riding, and a variety of boat excursions, as well as water sports and boating excursions. The island offers incredible wildlife viewing. It is home to nesting loggerhead turtles and dozens of species of migratory birds.
