Destin beaches are some of the most alluring of the entire Emerald Coast on the Florida Panhandle. Even with other popular vacation destinations like Panama City and Pensacola nearby, Destin maintains a certain appeal due in large part to the many opportunities for water sports and activities along the miles of powdery, white-sand beaches and turquoise blue shoreline, that even these cities cannot boast. Another advantage to staying in Destin Florida is that the beaches are long and wide enough that you will not generally find yourself jockeying for position with crowds of tourists. There are lots of restaurants, sports shops, beach bars, and fun clubs as well.
Fort Walton Beach
Fort Walton Beach is located on Okaloosa Island less than five miles to the west of downtown Destin. It features miles of unfettered shoreline that is accentuated by gorgeous, turquoise water and powdery white sand. You will find no shortage of activities to enjoy, from diving and snorkeling to kayaking and surfing. Guests of Fort Walton Beach have access to a full range of public facilities, including changing rooms, showers, concessions, parking, and much more. There are plenty of places to eat and drink, as well as a host of options for places to rent gear and equipment for the activities of your choice. There are lifeguards on duty at Fort Walton Beach. Visitors can choose from a selection of guest accommodations, including hotels, beach resorts, and vacation rentals.
Henderson Beach State Recreation Area
Henderson Beach State Recreation Area is a premiere destination for virtually every beach or water sport activity available on the Emerald Coast. It is located off of 98 East at 17000 Emerald Coast Parkway. From horseback riding to hiking, surf fishing to snorkeling, there is something for absolutely everyone to enjoy, regardless of age or area of interest. Fishing is a hugely popular pastime here, and it is possible to catch interesting fish such as pompano and white fish. There are complete public facilities that include pavilions, picnic areas, docks, restrooms, changing rooms, and more. Nature trails and natural beauty abound around every corner and complement the visually stunning beach and ocean.
Navarre Beach is another of the most popular Destin beaches along with Fort Walton and Henderson Beach. It is situated between the Gulf of Mexico and the Santa Rosa Sound. Sand does not get much more powdery or white than on this particular beach where visitors have access to a selection of guest accommodations, fine dining restaurants in close proximity, and many opportunities for beach activities. Navarre Beach is large enough that it is possible for some people to enjoy beach sports while others simply lie back and enjoy the soothing sounds of the ocean, soaking up the choice Florida sun. Lifeguards are on duty and there are sufficient public facilities, although not nearly as many as at Fort Walton Beach.
Destin Florida is an amazing vacation destination that is suitable for families and people of all ages. There are plenty of family restaurants, as well as attractions like cinemas, water parks, and theme parks.
