Spring Break Beaches

Spring Break BeachesThe most popular spring break beaches are where many students go for their springtime escapes. Among the reasons why these beaches so consistently attract the masses include their warm weather and their party atmospheres. Another major factor is their accessibility. You can find the most popular spring break beaches either in the United States or relatively close by. Less time traveling means more time for fun in the sun, and generally speaking, the less distant the location, the cheaper it is to get to. Either way, students who have spring break beach vacations in mind certainly won’t want to overlook the following hot spots.

United States

Florida has long been a popular destination for spring break beach vacations. Early on, it was Daytona Beach that got the most attention. While attempts have been made in recent years to make Daytona Beach a less rowdy spring break destination, the city still retains its ability to attract spring breakers in good number. The 23 miles of sandy beaches certainly help to make Daytona Beach a popular spring break destination.

Panama City has also been a popular Florida spring break destination for decades on end. One look at the sugar-white sandy beaches of Panama City Beach, and it is easy to understand why. Various watersports activities can be enjoyed at these beaches, and whether it is day or night, there is no shortage of party spots to head to on or near the sand. As for the other top spring break destinations in Florida, they include Miami and Fort Lauderdale. South Beach is the center of the Miami spring break action and offers a most satisfying mix of sun drenched beaches, good restaurants, and non-stop partying. Found just up the coast from Miami, Fort Lauderdale is also known for its fantastic beaches, its vast dining scene, and its numerous entertainment options.

Rounding out the list of most popular spring break destinations in the United States is South Padre Island. Among this barrier island’s offerings are miles of sandy beaches. Lining the sand in many a spot are hotels, resorts, and condos. Bars and clubs are also in good supply on South Padre Island, and they help to keep the party going once the sun goes down. Relaxing on the beach and partying aren’t the only options for things to do during a spring break trip to South Padre Island, however. Rock wall climbing, bungee jumping, and go carting are just some of the other activity options.

Mexico

Mexico is undoubtedly where you will find some of the most popular spring break beaches. Cancun leads the way, which is largely due to its long stretches of golden sand, its pulsating party scene, and its high number of affordable lodging options. Not too far south of Cancun, Playa del Carmen is another Mexico destination to consider. Once again, it offers extensive beaches and affordable accommodations that are popular with students. On the whole, Playa del Carmen is more laid-back than Cancun and doesn’t offer as much in the way of debauchery. Students can choose accordingly.

Other places to find popular spring breach beaches in Mexico include Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas. Powdery beaches with hidden coves figure among the Puerto Vallarta attractions, and whether or not spring break is in full swing, the bars should be vibrant and the beach parties lively. As for Cabo San Lucas, it’s the party capital of the Baja Peninsula, and you can bet that it is rockin’ when spring breakers are in town. It should be noted that on the whole, the accommodations in Cabo San Lucas are more expensive than they are at the other popular spring break destinations in Mexico.

Caribbean

The Caribbean weighs in heavily among the destinations with the most popular spring break beaches. There are good reasons why. For starters, some of the world’s most desirable stretches of sand can be found in the Caribbean region. The region is also relatively easy to reach from the United States. In the Caribbean spots where spring breakers are known to congregate, good nightlife only adds to the allure. Among these spots are the beaches of the Bahamas. Nassau and nearby Paradise Island are where many students go for spring break in the Bahamas. Freeport, which is on the island of Grand Bahama, is also a popular destination. It should be noted that you don’t have to fly to the Bahamas if you want to enjoy a Bahamas spring break escape. It is also possible to go by boat. There are actually spring break cruises to the Bahamas that include transportation and on-island accommodations. Students can even book all inclusive cruises that include unlimited alcoholic drinks and unlimited meals.

Jamaica is another Caribbean destination that spring breakers are known to favor. In the resort areas of Negril, Montego Bay, and Ocho Rios, there are numerous all inclusive hotels to take advantage of, not to mention gorgeous beaches where any number of aquatic activities can be enjoyed. Negril and Montego Bay in particular are the most popular Jamaica spring break destinations, and students should easily be able to find spring break vacation packages that target these two main spots.

Students who are interested in spending their spring breaks in the Caribbean region might also consider giving Puerto Rico a look. U.S. citizens don’t need a passport to enter the country, and once on the island, there are spectacular beaches to indulge in. Puerto Rico is also known for its nonstop energy and lively nightlife. Add in the fact that affordable accommodations abound and that flights are relatively cheap from the U.S., and it only becomes more clear that Puerto Rico can be a great place to have some fun when spring break rolls around.
