Venezuela Beaches

Venezuela beaches include some of the best in the entire Caribbean region, as the country boasts the longest
coastline on these beautiful waters. Additionally, there are a number of coastal islands that also have pristine beaches. Because of this, pinpointing the best beaches in Venezuela can be a long process. The beaches are the number one tourist attraction in the country. The tourism industry in Venezuela expanded greatly during the last two decades of the 20th century, but a lot of Americans do not choose this as a destination because relations between the two countries have not always been smooth. However, the country has a great deal to offer visitors.

In addition to having the longest Caribbean coastline, the country boasts the world’s highest waterfall, beautiful Angel Falls. Angel Falls (Churun Meru) is one of many sparkling waterfalls within the spectacular Canaima National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Another UNESCO World Heritage Site is the historic town of Coro, a superb example of the kind of architecture from the earliest period of Spanish colonization. Dating to 1527, it is the only remaining example of the blend of local traditions with ornate Spanish Mudejar (Muslim) and Dutch colonial architecture. The town boasts more than 600 historic buildings.

Venezuela beaches are usually accessed by flying into the capital city of Caracas, which is a richly cosmopolitan city. Some of the best beaches in Venezuela will be found with easy reach of the city. Yet another UNESCO World Heritage Site is located in Caracas, too—the Ciudad Universitaria built between 1940 and 1960 and representing several masterpieces of modern architecture. You can find fabulous beaches in other places than the Caribbean coast. The country is also home to South America’s second longest river, the Orinoco, which lies in the Amazonas region. It is navigable, and like the Amazon River, offers a number of fine beaches. The Amazon region is very popular for eco-tours.
