Ecuador Beaches

Ecuador beaches can be found in many places along the country’s Pacific Ocean coastline, but some of the best beaches in Ecuador will be found more than 500 nautical miles off the coast. These beaches are on the amazing Galapagos Islands. Several of these incredible islands that together make up a UNESCO World Heritage Site have fabulous sandy beaches, in addition to some of the most unique creatures in the world, made famous by Charles Darwin. On these stops, you can swim with sea turtles, golden rays, and even penguins. Blue footed boobies and other Galapagos birds might dive into the water right next to you. You can sunbathe on the sand stretched out next to a napping seal. The best way to view these islands and their unique fauna is on cruises on small ships that take several days to stop at different islands and Ecuador beaches in the archipelago.

However, the country has much more to offer visitors than endless stretches of sand. There are Inca ruins in the Andes Mountains of the country, and this region is popular for trekking in a similar way to the Inca Trail in Peru. The Avenue of the Volcanoes also provides superb hiking and trekking trails. Ecuador boasts a sizeable area of the Amazon Basin. Some of the sources of the mighty river lie in this country. There are both some of the best beaches in Ecuador as well as some excellent eco-lodges here. The capital city of Quito has some wonderful Spanish colonial architecture and fine museums to explore, as well as excellent restaurants. The city of Guayaquil is the jumping off point for many Galapagos cruises. It boasts a long seaside promenade with many shops, restaurants, and boutiques.
