Argentina Beaches

Argentina Beaches
Argentina beaches provide only one aspect of the many attractions to be found in this country that boasts a wide diversity of magnificent natural landscapes, a rich cultural heritage, charming villages, and cosmopolitan cities. Some of the best Argentine beaches will be found in remote areas along the Atlantic Ocean.

Among the country’s other natural landscapes is the lush rainforest around magnificent Iguazu Falls. The falls separate the countries of Brazil and Argentina. It and the surrounding rainforest in both countries together comprise a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Compare this with the wide-open space of the Pampas where the Argentine cowboys (gauchos) tend to some of the best beef cattle in the world. Then there is the southern tip of the country, Tierra del Fuego and Ushuaia, with a backdrop of jagged mountains. This is the gateway for expeditions and cruises to Antarctica. Or you can head to the long rugged western part of the country where the starkly beautiful landscapes include the Patagonia Glaciers (Los Glaciares National Park), yet another UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Unlike Rio de Janeiro, there are no urban Argentina beaches on the shoreline of cosmopolitan Buenos Aires. People visiting here will usually head across the bay formed by the Rio de la Plata to the neighboring country of Uruguay. Here there are some fine beaches within less than an hour’s drive or boat ride. Most people who come to Buenos Aires come for the beautiful Spanish colonial architecture and for the city’s sophistication that includes some of the finest shopping venues in the Southern Hemisphere and superb luxury hotels and gourmet restaurants. The city is also the center of the sultry tango. The very best Argentine beaches will be found about 250 miles south of Buenos Aires at the resort of Mar del Plata.
