You can hang out on the main Ixtapa beach of Playa Palmar, which is a beautiful white-sand beach on the Hotel Zone's edge. The surf often gets rough at this beach, and staying out the water is recommended when you see a red flag flying. Taking a water taxi over to Isla Ixtapa and enjoying its sandy beaches is also a possibility. Among the beaches that you will find on the island of Isla Ixtapa are Playa Linda, which is lined with palms and has a very pristine appeal, and Coral Beach, which faces the open waters of the Pacific Ocean and features a coral reef that can easily be reached by snorkelers and divers.
Other area beaches that are also be worthy of a visit are Playa las Cuatas, which is a lovely cove beach that is found a few miles north of Ixtapa, and Playa Vista Hermosa, which is known for its breathtaking rock formations.
