Cozumel

Cozumel
Cozumel Mexico might be best known for its world-class scuba diving. This island off the Mayan Riviera coast is also a prime beach vacation destination. There are beaches for all kinds of tastes and preferences on Cozumel Island, and their beauty is undeniable. You can certainly locate a lively strip of sand with bars and beach clubs if that's the kind of scene that you want.

Many Caribbean cruise ships visit Cozumel, and it's not hard to understand why. Gorgeous white-sand beaches with turquoise blue waters await Cozumel visitors, and there is no shortage of options when it comes to watersport activities. At the busier beaches in Cozumel, such as Sunset Beach, you can arrange diving, snorkeling, and snuba adventures. You can find Sunset Beach near the island's town of San Miguel and the cruise ship terminals. This is also the case with Playa Uvas, which boasts a rather exclusive beach club.

If a quieter Cozumel beach is what you are looking for, there are plenty to choose from. One of these beaches is Playa Palancar, which is found on the west coast. The further south you head on Cozumel's west coast, the quieter the beaches are in general. You can also find nearly deserted strips of sand on the island's east coast. One of the best east coast beaches in Cozumel is Playa Bush. It is there that you will find the popular Rasta Bar. This very laid-back beach bar is also called the Paradise Cafe and the Bob Marley Bar, and among other things, it offers fresh ceviche and ice cold beers.

A number of all inclusive beach resorts can be found along the Cozumel beaches, and shopping and a number of cultural attractions are nearby. You can also choose to learn about Cozumel history at the excellent Museo de la Island de Cozumel, visit the small Maya ruins site known as San Gervasio, and enjoy side trips to other regional destinations such as Playa del Carmen.
