Mallorca Spain is the largest island in the Balearic archipelago. It is also the second-most populous island of Spain (Tenerife in the Canary Islands is the first). Mallorca beaches are some of the top attractions to this island and some of the prettiest beaches in Spain as well. There is an excellent blend of rugged beaches and stretches of coastline that are suited for swimming and other such beach activities. The capital of Mallorca is Palma, a city around which you will discover not only a range of beautiful beaches, but also cultural and historic points of interest. Besides great beaches, Mallorca also offers its guests a host of opportunities to partake in fine Mediterranean dining, shopping, and entertainment.
Palma and the West Coast
Cala Mayor is one of the first resort areas to the west of Palma. Here you will find a wonderful stretch of white sandy beach, as well as many beach bars and restaurants, places to rent gear and equipment, and much more. Cala Mayor, and most of the other Mallorca beaches on the west coast, feature lifeguards, beach security, public facilities, and concessions. This is a busy resort area, especially during the peak season. As such, there are plenty of amenities and services geared toward families on vacation. Palma Nova and Magaluf are two more top beaches on the west coast of the island that offer everything in the way of public facilities and services, beach amenities, and sports and activities. Both beaches feature awesome white sand and crystal blue waters. Santa Ponsa is perhaps the most popular resort destination behind Magaluf and Palma Nova. There are plenty of bars and restaurants, as well as lifeguards and public facilities, but this beach does not tend to get nearly as busy as the aforementioned others.
Northwest Coast
Sant Elm is one of the loveliest beaches along the northwest coast of Mallorca. It is more remote that the beaches of the southwest, but still offers access to places to eat and drink, as well as public facilities and lifeguards in season. This is a beach where you can truly commune with nature. Visitors can walk from the beach to the gorgeous La Trapa nature reserve.
Northeast Coast
Cala de San Vincente offers three small beaches that are separated by craggy outcroppings. The crystal blue waters and white sand are perfect for swimming and snorkeling when the tide permits. The vistas of the Cavall Bernat Mountain are impressive from the beach. There are a couple of beach bars and restaurants nearby and limited public facilities. Puerto Pollensa is a favorite destination for tourists. It offers a variety of resorts and access to many places to eat, drink, and enjoy entertainment. The long and wide, white sandy beach plays host to a plethora of sports and activities for people of all ages to enjoy.
East Coast
Cala d’Or is a world-class resort area that features fine dining, pristine beaches, yachting, sailing, and much more. The beaches are well guarded and offer many amenities and services. The marina is adjacent to the beach and there are places to rent gear and equipment for everything from fishing to scuba diving. Cala Ratiada, the beach at Colonia de Sant Jordi, and Es Trenc are three more Mallorca beaches on the east coast that are worth exploring as well.
