Mallorca is the largest island in the Balearic Archipelago, autonomous island communities of Spain. It is the largest of the Balearic Islands and home Palma, the capital of the island chain. Mallorca, also referred to as Majorca, is among the top island vacation destinations in Europe, welcoming millions of tourists each and every year. The Mediterranean climate makes for long and temperate summers filled with exciting outdoor activities like sailing, diving, and deep-sea fishing. It is no question that the beaches are the premiere attractions on the Balearic Islands. These are stunningly picturesque islands is the middle of the Mediterranean Sea that are peppered with long and unspoiled stretches of coastline, lined with palm trees and covered with verdant foliage. Cala Mayor is one of the best beaches on the entire island. It is a small, golden sand beach with two gorgeous coves lined with pine trees. It is a remote beach with no lifeguards. Portals Nous is another fantastic beach that is remote and perfect for private getaways.
If you are looking for a more lively beach environment, try Magaluf or Palma Nova. These are larger beaches that attract huge numbers of tourists to the large resorts and hotels, especially during the peak travel season in the summer. Besides a wide array of beach activities, there are tours of the island, ferry rides to the other islands in the Balearic chain, and plenty of entertainment and nightlife to go around.
