Barcelona is located along the northeastern, Mediterranean coast of Catalonia. It is a city that is steeped in tradition and culture and renowned for its lovely beaches and countryside. It is the second largest city in the entire country behind Madrid. Barcelona is one of the premiere tourist destinations in all of Europe, offering visitors from all over the world virtually limitless opportunities for art, culture, recreation, and entertainment. Whether it is professional sports, internationally renowned museums, pristine beaches, or a combination of all the above you are looking for, you are sure to find it in the capital of Catalonia.

There are seven beaches total in this city. All of them feature lifeguards, public facilities, and an array of shops, restaurants, bars, and more. It has been ranked in the top ten cities in Europe when it comes to beach destinations. There are seven beaches that comprise nearly three miles along the Catalonian coast. Barceloneta is the most centrally located beach in the city and be reached by foot from downtown (about 20 minutes) or by taking the yellow metro line. It is a wide stretch of beach with lifeguards, restaurants, bars, and public facilities.

Nova Icaria Beach is another notable destination in the city. It is another beach that offers a variety of bars and restaurants. Nova Icaria is close to the Olympic Marina. Mar Bella Beach is a bit more private and is also a favorite destination for water sports like jet skiing, boating, and much more. Sant Sebastia is another of the most popular and frequently visited beaches in the city. It is one of the oldest beaches in Barcelona, along with Barceloneta, and features a range of classy restaurants, boutiques, and places to enjoy walks along the coast. After enjoying the lovely beaches, you can venture out into this cosmopolitan European city to enjoy world-class dining, shopping, and entertainment, as well as some of the quirkiest and most interesting architecture in Europe.
