Greece is a spectacularly beautiful country located on the southern portion of the Balkan Peninsula. It is bounded by the Mediterranean, Aegean, and Ionian Seas, and shares borders with Bulgaria, Macedonia, and Albania. Even though 80 percent of Greece’s topography is mountainous, it also boasts thousands of miles of coastline.
Indeed, it is the breathtaking mountains (not the least of which is Mount Olympus), the sparkling, turquoise water of the Mediterranean Sea, and the vast array of alluring islands that make this place so special. The appeal of the beaches, the mountains, and the sea is apparent upon first arriving.
