Playa Conchal is located along the Gold Coast of Costa Rica—one of the most scenic places along the country’s Pacific Coast. The beach’s sand is made up of shells worn down over time by the wind and the waves. Conchal Beach Costa Rica is separated from its neighboring beach, Playa Brasilito, by a rocky outcropping. Together, these Gold Coast beaches are a fantastic place to have some fun in the sun.

Playa Conchal and its twin are easy to reach from many points in Costa Rica. The Tamarindo airport is closest—just a ten-minute taxi ride to the beach. You also could fly into the Liberia airport, about 45 minutes away. There’s always the scenic route—it takes about four hours to drive from San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica, to the Gold Coast.

If you’re looking for a quiet beach where you can relax and get away from it all, you’ll find it at Playa Conchal in the Guanacaste Province. This long stretch of white sand, lined by resorts, winds for 2.5 miles along the blue waters of the Pacific. Exceptionally clean, Conchal Beach Costa Rica was awarded the Blue Flag designation for its conditions. This slice of paradise is as pretty as you’d find on any tropical island. Even if you never step into the ocean, you’ll still be treated to views of one of the best Costa Rica Beaches. The white sand, towering palm trees, and nearly endless blue skies are sure to put a smile on your face.

Of course, the majority of visitors to who plan visits to Conchal Beach Costa Rica want to spend some time on the water. Swimming and splashing in the surf are perennial favorites, and snorkeling is particularly rewarding. With just a mask, snorkel, and sense of adventure, you can enter a world that looks nothing like what’s found on the surface. A rainbow of fish and coral are found in the waters of the Pacific. A little farther out, you’ll find some rewarding scuba diving opportunities. Many of the same companies that offering diving excursions also lead deep-sea fishing charters and guided sightseeing trips.

Like many of the Guanacaste beaches, eco-trips are easy to find around Playa Conchal—many of the country’s most scenic national parks and natural spaces are within a short trip of Conchal Beach. Several of the resorts offer eco-tours as part of their activities, such as a horseback ride through the rainforest or a guided wildlife excursions. A host of the resorts along Playa Conchal are all-inclusive, so you don’t need to pay any extra to enjoy these extra activities.

Many golfers know Conchal Beach Costa Rica as the home of one of the best courses in South America. Garra de Leon, designed by famed golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr., offers excellent views—the Pacific on one side and a lush forest on the other. The trees are home to charming howler monkeys, and the fairways are as green as emeralds. The course is a part of a Westin resort, which also includes a spa and fantastic pool complex. The resort and all of Playa Conchal are blessed with pleasant weather year-round, so whenever you plan to visit, you’ll find perfect weather for time at the beach or a day on the greens.
