With more than 1,100 miles of shoreline, it’s easy to find to the perfect place to have fun in the sun. No matter your style, Costa Rican beaches suit both the wild and mild at heart.

The Atlantic coast of Costa Rica is lined by quiet fishing villages and equally quiet beaches in the Limon Province. At the southern edge of the Caribbean Sea, these Costa Rica beaches are as pretty as you’d see on any island. The beaches are especially popular with snorkelers and divers, especially those around Puerto Viejo. This laid-back village is a staging point for eco-tours, including diving tours and dolphin excursions. The wildlife watching is fantastic; colorful birds and large sea turtles make their home along the shores of the Caribbean.

In Western Costa Rica, the Pacific beaches offer a mix of adventure and off-the-beaten-path getaways. Throughout the Guanacaste Province, you’ll find all types of beaches. Whether you’re planning to catch a wave or lounge in the sun, these Costa Rican beaches offer something for everyone. Many resorts are located in within steps of these great beaches, with everything from quiet little bungalows to grand luxury suites. Several of the resorts include beach activities for guests. Even if you need to pay a little extra, you won’t find high prices or tourist upcharges along these Costa Rica beaches. During the summer and fall, the Guanacaste beaches offer some of the best surfing conditions in the world.
