Trunk Bay Beach ranks among the most beautiful beaches in the world and is without question the biggest attraction on the Caribbean island of St John. Part of U.S. Virgin Islands National Park, it attracts tourists with its sumptuously soft sand and its crystal clear waters. Backing the sand at Trunk Bay St John is […]
US Virgin Islands Beaches
The US Virgin Islands are a true beach lover's paradise. In this Caribbean chain, the sand is soft and white, and meeting the sand are turquoise waters that are stunningly clear. Emerald green hills serve as the backdrop for a number of USVI beaches, and palm trees often provide shade and added atmosphere. Other reasons why tourists are drawn to the beaches in the US Virgin Islands are the warm year-round weather and the fact that each and every strip of sand on the islands is open to the public.
The US Virgin Islands combine with the British Virgin Islands to make up the larger Virgin Islands chain. Offshore reefs protect many beaches throughout the Virgin Islands chain, and they also provide some fantastic snorkeling and diving opportunities. Sapphire Beach on the USVI island of St Thomas has a reef that is not far from shore, for example, and gear can be rented for those who are without. Sapphire Beach, as is true of Magens Bay Beach, is among the best beaches on the island of St Thomas.
The other two main islands in the USVI are St Croix and St John. St Croix, much like St Thomas, is relatively well-developed, while sleepier St John is a more natural retreat. Both feature amazing beaches, with Cane Bay Beach being one of the top rated strips of sand on St Croix. On St John, pristine Trunk Bay Beach presents a beach setting that is almost too good to be true.
Whatever your preference, the beaches in the US Virgin Islands have you covered. Mega resorts sit on the sands of some, while others are secluded and devoid of development. When visitors aren't enjoying beach time, they can indulge in a wide variety of other activities, such as hiking, golfing, and deep sea fishing. Break it all down, and it's no wonder that tourism is the top industry in the USVI.
Magens Bay is the destination of choice for many St Thomas visitors. Found just three miles north of Charlotte Amalie in the US Virgin Islands, this renowned bay boasts a lovely, white-sand beach, and therein lies the primary allure. The soft sands of this world-class beach extend for nearly one mile, and meeting the sand […]
The St Thomas beaches figure among the very best beaches in the Caribbean. What makes them so appealing is the invitingly soft, white sand and turquoise waters. Only adding to the allure of many top St Thomas USVI beaches is lush, tropical vegetation, and each and every strip of sand that can be found along […]
