Rincon

Rincon has figured among the best Puerto Rico vacation destinations for some time now. Situated on a small peninsula that juts out on the west coast, this once sleepy village is home to some of the best beaches in Puerto Rico, especially if you like to surf or snorkel. Complementing the beach life is some excellent nightlife, and the town has an all around cultural appeal that is hard to deny. A building boom in recent years has added numerous lodging options to the Rincon scene, and these options include enticing condos and upscale hotels that deserve mention among the very best hotels in the Caribbean.

Rincon is surrounded by the waters of the Caribbean Sea on three sides and boasts no fewer than eight miles of beachfront. At famous surfing beaches such as Domes, Spanish Wall, and Corcega, the waves are often spectacular. Quite simply, Rincon is one of the best places in the world to surf, which is partly evidenced by the fact that it has hosted major surfing events. Winter is when the surfing is at its absolute best.

If you aren't up for some surfing or you just want to enjoy a tamer beach with less surf, there are strips of sand in Rincon that should have little trouble pleasing. Also, certain beaches that are good for surfing in the winter are ideal for snorkeling during the other seasons. Such is the case with Tres Palmas Beach, or Steps Beach, as it is also known. During the summer, the water is calm and ideal for snorkeling, while winter brings the big waves that surfers crave.

When Rincon aren't surfing or snorkeling, they often find themselves windsurfing. Sandy Beach, which lacks rocks on its ocean floor, is the preferred beach for windsurfing in Rincon. December through February is a particularly good time to drop by Sandy Beach if you want to windsurf, as this is when the winds are most consistent.
