Jamaica Beaches

Jamaica Beaches
Jamaica might be known for its spicy jerk chicken and the kind of music that makes you want to get up and dance, but the beaches are really the star attraction here. Jamaica beaches are everything a beach in the Caribbean should be: clean, full of white sand, and boasting water that ranges in colors from turquoise to blue to deep navy. While there are three main resort areas on the island—Montego Bay, Negril, and Ocho Rios—there are also several other beaches for travelers who are willing to rent a car and get off the beaten path.

Some travelers prefer to soak up the sun on the beach adjoining their hotel or resort. These beaches offer all the comfort and convenience of a frozen cocktail nearby. Montego Bay is known for its all-inclusive resorts. Many travelers enjoy water sports and sunbathing at these beaches because everything is included in a package. If you’re paying for food, drinks, and entertainment in a package, why go elsewhere? The next spot is Negril, the newest resort destination on the island. The seven-mile beach here is known for its sunsets, and many visitors are happy to never leave this stretch of the coastline.

Adventurous travelers might want to see what other beaches Jamaica has to offer. While many of the beach resorts are spread along the northern coast of the island, there is one area along the southeastern coast that is home to a gorgeous unspoiled beach called Treasure Beach. It is located near one of the most dramatic views on the island, of the 1,000-foot cliff at Lover’s Leap. For a break from a traditional day at the beach, one of the best things to do in Jamaica is visit Dunns River Falls. These waterfalls stretch 600 feet high and can be climbed just like a staircase.
