Best Jamaican Beaches

Best Jamaica Beaches
Jamaica beaches are renowned as being some of the most breathtaking in the Caribbean Sea. The best and safest beaches are those associated with the resorts and luxury hotels located in the most popular tourist areas. These include Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rios, Kingston, and Port Antonio. There are quite a few hidden gems scattered throughout the large island as well, but as a general rule, it is best to stay as close to the beaten path as possible in Jamaica, especially if venturing out on your own.

Seven Mile Beach

One of the best Jamaican beaches located in Negril, on the far western end of the island. This is a fabulous stretch of white-sand beach that is located within close proximity of a variety of hotels and resorts, as well as restaurants and clubs. The beaches affiliated with the hotels are closely guarded. This is a very busy beach for tourism and nude bathing is also allowed. There are a host of public accommodations, including restrooms and seating areas, as well as places to rent umbrellas and other gear.

Lime Cay

Lime Cay is an idyllic island situated just off of Port Royal in the Kingston area. Kingston is in the southeastern part of the island. There is no formal public transportation situation, so the best way to go about things is to hire a boat in Port Royal to transport you across. This is a popular beach for both sunbathing and water sports. No rentals here, so you will need to bring along your gear and anything else you wish to have along with you. Bringing plenty of water, food, and sun block is advised if you plan on spending a long period of time on the island.

Mallard Beach

This is one of the most popular and touristy beaches located in Ocho Rios, which is situated on the northern and central part of Jamaica. It features hotels and restaurants, entertainment venues, souvenir shops, and plenty of fellow travelers to meet. If you are looking for a clean beach with all of the amenities near lots of accommodations, this could be a great option for you.

James Bond Beach

Also located in Ocho Rios, James Bond Beach is a favorite beach for many tourists. The Golden Eye Hotel is a favorite of James Bond enthusiasts, having been the residence of the writer of the James Bond series, Ian Fleming. These beaches feature lifeguards and public facilities as well.

Cornwall Beach

You will find this destination among the Montego Bay beaches, located on the northwestern part of the island in between Hope Well and St. Bran’s Burg. Cornwall Beach is very popular for water sports and activities and features equipment rentals, public facilities, restaurants, and shops.

Walter Fletcher Beach

Walter Fletcher Beach is renowned in Montego Bay for its calm waters and gentle surf, making it a top choice for families with small kids. This is a great place for swimming and scuba diving, especially for novices. There are plenty of public facilities and eateries nearby.

Doctor’s Cave Beach

You have to pay a nominal fee to chill out on Doctor’s Cave Beach, but it is well worth it. These waters are fed by mineral springs that warm up the water to a most pleasing temperature that ranges into the low to mid 80s. The amazing water conditions make this a top choice for people visiting Montego Bay on vacations as well as cruise excursions.

Blue Lagoon Beach

This is one of the most enthralling Jamaican beaches located in Port Antonio, which is located on the far eastern end of the island. This beach is obviously associated with a young Brooke Shields and the classic film, Blue Lagoon.

Boston Bay Beach

On Boston Bay Beach, the deep waters produce a dark blue hue that is exceptionally pretty set against the white sand of the beach. There are snack bars, restaurants, hotels, and public facilities on Boston Bay Beach. It is a popular area for fishing and surfing.

There are many more Jamaica beaches to explore, but this should provide a good starting point for your explorations of the island.
