Sosua is a town on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic. It is situated about four miles from Puerto Plata and is easily accessible off of Highway 5. This route runs the entirety of the north coast of the Dominican Republic. Although Sosua is divided up into three sections, only one is the predominant place for tourism: El Batey. The other two are Sosua Abajo and Los Charamicos. The north coast of the DR has been a hugely popular tourist destination for Europeans as well as North Americans for a number of decades now.

Playa Dorada is a pristine, white sandy beach where you can enjoy everything from windsurfing to jet skiing, swimming and snorkeling. Cabrete Bay is a great place for snorkeling and diving. A note is called for when visiting a beach like this in the Dominican Republic. Often times, if you are not staying at a major resort or hotel, the beaches are usually not patrolled by lifeguards. As a general rule, it is best to stay around the resort’s grounds at night and adhere to the rules that the accommodations for maximum safety. Sosua is a great place to enjoy the culture and beauty of the Dominican in a relaxed environment.
