The best beaches in the world
Punta Cana is perhaps the most popular of all the resort destinations in the Dominican Republic. It is situated on the unspoiled and remote eastern coast of the country, facing out toward the Atlantic Ocean. The white, powdery sand beaches stretch for what seems like endless miles. This is the kind of vacation destination where you plan on spending most of your time at the resort. Beyond the walls of the luxury resorts it is largely countryside. You can walk for miles along pristine beaches lined with coconut palm trees. But unless you book an excursion or rent a car to explore the coast, your activities will mostly be limited to what is available at the resorts.
This is certainly no cause for concern, as the resorts in Punta Cana are comprehensive to say the very least. Most of the resorts are geared toward families and provide a wide variety of options for activities and entertainment. Major resorts feature multiple fine dining options, as well as casual options and buffet-style eateries. You can eat by the pool or choose from any one of the many restaurants. The resorts feature a number of swimming pools, private beaches, spas, shopping centers, fitness centers, and much more. The beaches are carefully patrolled and offer every facility you might need, as well as concessions and rentals.
There is nightly entertainment, daycare services, activities for the kids, and just about anything else you could imagine. These resorts are geared toward families who do not want to have to leave the grounds unless it’s necessary. The nearest big city is Higuey, 40 miles away. There are only a few other resort areas nearby, including El Cortecito (the closest thing to a town nearby), Cabeza de Toro, and Macao. Some of the top resorts in Punta Cana include Dreams, the Grand Oasis, and Tortuga Bay.
