US Virgin Island hotels range across four exquisite islands. St John and St Thomas certainly afford the most luxuries and abundant amenities, including a wide choice in fine dining restaurants, activities, and tours. St Croix stands down from these super island stars, with limited development and a more laid-back, charming feel. Water Island is the newest of the bunch, affording few lodging options but the ones that do exist provide visitors with a rare, raw Virgin Islands experience.
St Thomas Beach Hotels
St Thomas beach hotels offer the best of both worlds with access to amazing beaches and easy route to the capital city of Charlotte Amalie where dining, shopping, and entertainment are readily available. Sugar Bay Resort and Spa is an all inclusive three-star hotel in St Thomas boasting Clear Air Hypoallergenic rooms with almost 500 square feet filtered with PURE air systems. The all inclusive plan offers all drinks and meals, pool-side lounge chairs skirting a waterfall, a resort shuttle, and private beach access. Recreational activities include non-motorized sports, and entertainment is also included.
The Marriott St Thomas is on Frenchman’s Reef on Magen’s Bay Beach near the Coral World Underwater Observatory and St John’s National Park. True to Marriott style, luxury is infused in all resort aspects, from elegantly appointed guest rooms to beachfront massage cabanas. Striking views of Charlotte Amalie Harbor make this hotel a wedding destination favorite.
St John Beach Hotels
The lush, green backdrop of St John beachfront hotels in the Virgin Islands is the best attribute of the island (aside from restricted development) covering more than half of the area with white-sand beaches, rich parklands, and reefs ideal for snorkeling and diving. The Westin St John resort and Villas is pure luxury in an even more luxurious location. Almost 50 acres on Great Cruz Bay features a design that is both relaxing and accommodating, with plenty of secluded areas perfect for relishing in Caribbean tranquility. Special romance vacation packages are a signature trait here but the children’s club and grand meeting spaces facilitate all visitors.
If you want to get away from it all, Castle Villa offers up the most seclusion of all St John beach hotels, with private villas spaced out just right. Designed to emulate a castle, the stone structures encompass beautiful accommodations that are almost as great a lure as the outdoors.
St Croix Beach Hotels
St Croix beach hotels are far from the other islands, comprising a blend of sugar plantations, world-class scuba diving, and thick rainforests. The off-the-beaten path atmosphere is created by very little development; the island is home to the fewest beachfront hotels in the Virgin Islands of all the islands. Hibiscus Beach Resort is a full-service oceanfront hotel with 40 oceanview rooms and a fresh, festive vibe. Completely self-sufficient, most guests leave only for a day tour to other islands. On the north shore is The Waves at Cane Bay, featuring a location only steps from The Wall, St Croix’s premier diving area. The onsite bar, restaurant, and activities offer little reason to stress about anything.
Water Island Beach Hotels
Water Island is the fourth island proclaimed as part of the US Virgin Islands in 1996. US Virgin Island hotels are fairly non-existent– instead visitors stay in apartments, vacation homes, and eco-cabins. The island is a major day-tour attraction with overnight guests relying heavily on neighboring St Thomas, a short boat ride away. Wind-powered Virgin Islands Campground is a popular spot for guests. The Waterfront Cottage and Apartments on Providence Point is one of the only accommodation options on the private peninsula. The private beach, dock, and prime access to popular Honeymoon Beach makes this a spectacular spot to recharge.
