Lucaya Beach is one of the stretches of white sand along the southern point of Grand Bahama Island, not far from Freeport and its many great beaches. It’s a short stroll away from popular hotels along Port Lucaya. Here, you’ll have the chance to enjoy fun in the sun, a beach chair and a good book, or something as thrilling as a parasailing excursion. A short bus ride away, you’ll find a beach at the other end of the spectrum, Gold Rock Beach, an unspoiled stretch of surf and sand that’s part of a national park (the similarly named Lucayan National Park).
If you’re looking to enjoy watersports, Lucaya Beach will be worth your time. This stretch of sand and surf, between Silver Point Beach and Taino Beach, draws a nice crowd. You’ll still have plenty of room to stretch out and stake your own space. Lifeguards are on duty at the beach, and local outfitters can provide you with the equipment and know-how needed to have some fun and get out and explore. Snorkeling is a popular activity at Lucaya Beach, as is going for a stroll. You’ll also find a marketplace and plenty of snack stands and restaurants within minutes of this family-friendly beach.
Some of the local tour companies provide transportation and tours of the nearby national park, which is home to the secluded Gold Rock Beach. Whether you pick the style of Lucaya Beach or the quiet Gold Rock Beach, you’ll have a chance to enjoy the sun on your shoulders and some of the prettiest Bahamas beaches around.
